Why Kitchen Feng Shui?

Wednesday

Have you ever been to a party where the kitchen was empty? It doesn’t happen often due to the kitchen usually being the heart of the home. It is the comfortable place where family and friends gather together. In the practice of feng shui, this description comes as no surprise as the kitchen is often viewed as the place of health and prosperity inside the home. To keep your kitchen functional and the chi flowing, use the following suggestions in your kitchen. If you have the opportunity to incorporate feng shui in your luxury homes plans please do.

Keep it clean. A clean and shining kitchen is filled with good energy from top to bottom. Make sure to keep the clutter out and surfaces wiped down. Do it all, including the windows and walls.

Keep it clear. Besides keeping the surfaces clean, it is important to keep the kitchen clear of all clutter, even in the cupboards. If you can’t throw it all out, take the time to go through the cabinets and drawers and organize the clutter and mess. Even the junk drawer can stay- simply organize it and make it easier to access. To organize, use drawer dividers as an ideal way for keeping cooking tools handy and arranging the clutter.

Keep it colorful. Balanced earth and fire colors are ideal in the large kitchen. Too much of one color or the other can create the wrong energy. Smaller spaces often are better with monochromatic light colors. High gloss paints are ideal as matte paints are dull, do not reflect energy and are harder to keep clean. Don’t forget that personal preference is key. If a recommended color makes you uncomfortable then it won’t work with your chi. Often just painting the trim or using highlights is enough to maximize the energy.

Keep it fresh. Fresh flowers and produce is not only pretty but it adds to the positive energy and the keeps the kitchen vibrant and fragrant. Some fruits, such as oranges for luck, are symbolic and can be used to your advantage in different situations.

Keep it working. If the kitchen is the heart of the home, then the stove is the heart of the kitchen. If you can incorporate the stove on the island in your contemporary house plan then do so. However, a broken or malfunctioning stove can be a sign of financial distress and should be dealt with quickly. An unused stove often represents unused resources. Even if minimally, make efforts to use the stove and each burner regularly to keep opportunity flowing. Plumbing issues should never be ignored, as it is a drain of resources.

Keep it in place. Stoves and sinks should not be placed opposite one another as water and fire create tension. Stoves should not be placed opposite doorways or under windows due to the lack of support, thus allowing easy drain of energy. Always store knives and blades in a drawer or butcher block. Bulky items should not be stored overhead, or at least not over places where you rest or work consistently. Water should not be left on the stove as it weakens the fire element. Lastly, a crystal placed in a window can catch sunlight and cast it over the rest of the space.

These are just a few of some basic feng shui applications that can be carried out in your home’s kitchen. It is not important to incorporate all these details into your kitchen; functionality is your first priority but if you can create it in your ranch style floor plans, then all the better. Evaluate the space regularly and put into practice whatever feels right at the time.

For those of us that love cooking and are in the kitchen a lot, we may begin to realize that over time we wished we had more room! Some people own their homes and have enough money and are allowed to renovate their kitchens to include an island. However, for those of us that are living in dwellings such as apartments or town homes, this just is not always possible.

This is exactly where a wooden kitchen trolley comes into place. These little devices will allow you to have the “island” you want, but you will not have to rip anything out or rip anything down. Even if you do own your own home you still might choose to go with the wooden trolley simply because they are so unique and cost-efficient.

Also, since most of these wooden kitchen trolleys have wheels, they can also be moved around wherever you see fit. Some people will even buy a trolley and use it for a variety of reasons. For example, if you find a trolley big enough, you could use this to place your toaster or microwave on one side and use the other side for cutting or for placing hot pots and pans on (depending on what the sealing is like).

Many people love to hang out in their kitchen. It has everything that can nourish the body and the soul. It is also a place for family activity, where a mother and child could bond while baking cookies. It is also where you can find a husband and a wife preparing meals for the romantic dinner that has been long overdue.

The kitchen can bring tons of good moments in your lives. Hence, it isn’t just a place for cooking. It is also a place for company and comfort. But no matter how much comfort and security you find in one’s kitchen, it still contains various types of hazards. The tools you use to prepare meals can be a great threat to safety. There are the sharps, which you use to cut the food. There’s also the fuel and the gas range, which you use to cook food. There are also the tiles on the walls and the kitchen, which you use to beautify the place. All of these things may just be harmless when left alone. However, accidents can happen through the things mentioned.

Hence, kitchen safety is very important. You should be able to practice this in order to avoid getting hurt. So here are some of the guidelines to follow:

1. Turn off the fuel line when not in use. When you discovered that the burner on the flame stopped, turn off the gas range and open the windows right away.

2. Do not put clothing materials and papers near the burner. You also have to avoid wearing clothes that are loose when cooking.

3. Do not put sockets near the sink. If ever you want to use an electric appliance, keep them away from areas where water splatters.

4. Careful when handling pots and pans fresh from the burner or the oven. Always make use of potholders to avoid getting burns.

5. Keep away sharps from the reach of the children. When not in use, it should be properly stored in knife racks or drawers.

6. Do not place cookie jars on top of cabinets or in high places. It is better to hide them if you’re preventing your kids to eat cookies and treats on an untimely manner.

7. Always clean the tiles on the floor and the walls. These are great areas for molds and bacteria to thrive on because of the most. Hence, if you do not want your food to be contaminated, make sure lessen the microorganism count by brushing them.

8. Keep the kitchen floor dry. Wet, moist or damp floors may cause slips and falls.

9. Always wash your hands before and after handling food. Dry your hands completely before handling anything that is electrical.

10. When cooking make sure the handles of the pots and pans are place inwards to avoid accidental knockouts.

These are just some great safety tips when working with your kitchen. Remember these things and help enjoy your kitchen for its not goodness and not cause costly accidents.
