Why Kitchen Feng Shui?

Have you ever been to a party where the kitchen was empty? It doesn’t happen often due to the kitchen usually being the heart of the home. It is the comfortable place where family and friends gather together. In the practice of feng shui, this description comes as no surprise as the kitchen is often viewed as the place of health and prosperity inside the home. To keep your kitchen functional and the chi flowing, use the following suggestions in your kitchen. If you have the opportunity to incorporate feng shui in your luxury homes plans please do.

Keep it clean. A clean and shining kitchen is filled with good energy from top to bottom. Make sure to keep the clutter out and surfaces wiped down. Do it all, including the windows and walls.

Keep it clear. Besides keeping the surfaces clean, it is important to keep the kitchen clear of all clutter, even in the cupboards. If you can’t throw it all out, take the time to go through the cabinets and drawers and organize the clutter and mess. Even the junk drawer can stay- simply organize it and make it easier to access. To organize, use drawer dividers as an ideal way for keeping cooking tools handy and arranging the clutter.

Keep it colorful. Balanced earth and fire colors are ideal in the large kitchen. Too much of one color or the other can create the wrong energy. Smaller spaces often are better with monochromatic light colors. High gloss paints are ideal as matte paints are dull, do not reflect energy and are harder to keep clean. Don’t forget that personal preference is key. If a recommended color makes you uncomfortable then it won’t work with your chi. Often just painting the trim or using highlights is enough to maximize the energy.

Keep it fresh. Fresh flowers and produce is not only pretty but it adds to the positive energy and the keeps the kitchen vibrant and fragrant. Some fruits, such as oranges for luck, are symbolic and can be used to your advantage in different situations.

Keep it working. If the kitchen is the heart of the home, then the stove is the heart of the kitchen. If you can incorporate the stove on the island in your contemporary house plan then do so. However, a broken or malfunctioning stove can be a sign of financial distress and should be dealt with quickly. An unused stove often represents unused resources. Even if minimally, make efforts to use the stove and each burner regularly to keep opportunity flowing. Plumbing issues should never be ignored, as it is a drain of resources.

Keep it in place. Stoves and sinks should not be placed opposite one another as water and fire create tension. Stoves should not be placed opposite doorways or under windows due to the lack of support, thus allowing easy drain of energy. Always store knives and blades in a drawer or butcher block. Bulky items should not be stored overhead, or at least not over places where you rest or work consistently. Water should not be left on the stove as it weakens the fire element. Lastly, a crystal placed in a window can catch sunlight and cast it over the rest of the space.

These are just a few of some basic feng shui applications that can be carried out in your home’s kitchen. It is not important to incorporate all these details into your kitchen; functionality is your first priority but if you can create it in your ranch style floor plans, then all the better. Evaluate the space regularly and put into practice whatever feels right at the time.

Everyone that has tried to cook a meal or bake has ended up running around the kitchen looking for a certain utensil or ending up using the wrong cooking tool because they can’t find what they are looking for. At the end of the cooking session they are left with a large amount of cooking equipment to clean. It doesn’t have to be that way with a few simple kitchen accessories that you can introduce to your kitchen area.

Buying kitchen furniture and accessories is quite expensive so most people do not tend to buy extra fixtures for it. With the amount of online stores, prices have dramatically come down due to the amount of competition. An easy and cheap accessory to introduce to the kitchen is by buying a utensil organizer that fits into the drawer and counter top. The organizer that fits in the drawer can hold the smaller utensils, while the counter top utensil organizer can hold the larger cooking utensils that you use for pots and pans.

Another item to introduce to the kitchen is to use a towel holder for the dish clothes and cooking gloves. Some of these holders are fixed to the wall, but if you don’t want to start drilling holes into the wall, you can buy one that attached to the kitchen drawer. These holders have a pair of hooks attached to the holder that can hook into a cupboard or door. The hooks are very thin so the drawer or cupboard door can still open and close without any problems.

You could also opt for a pantry organizer for your kitchen. You don’t need a pantry in order to use them. You do need additional space in your kitchen to have one installed. They come in a wide range of shapes and sizes so they are not as big as you may think. They are great for storing food and allowing you to keep more cooking equipment in the kitchen cupboards as you no longer have to store food in them.

Having a clean and uncluttered counter area where you can prepare food makes cooking so much more enjoyable. It will also make a big difference during the cooking process where you will no longer ruin a meal because you couldn’t find a particular item. When everything has its place in the kitchen, you will notice that your enjoyment for cooking will increase too.

For those of us that love cooking and are in the kitchen a lot, we may begin to realize that over time we wished we had more room! Some people own their homes and have enough money and are allowed to renovate their kitchens to include an island. However, for those of us that are living in dwellings such as apartments or town homes, this just is not always possible.

This is exactly where a wooden kitchen trolley comes into place. These little devices will allow you to have the “island” you want, but you will not have to rip anything out or rip anything down. Even if you do own your own home you still might choose to go with the wooden trolley simply because they are so unique and cost-efficient.

Also, since most of these wooden kitchen trolleys have wheels, they can also be moved around wherever you see fit. Some people will even buy a trolley and use it for a variety of reasons. For example, if you find a trolley big enough, you could use this to place your toaster or microwave on one side and use the other side for cutting or for placing hot pots and pans on (depending on what the sealing is like).

If you have ever tried to sell your home or if you often look at houses to buy, you know how difficult it can be to try to enhance a boring room. Well now there is a way that you can turn any boring room into an absolute paradise. Now, a drab and boring wall or floor can be covered in stone tile, turning it into a masterpiece that everyone in your home will love. Stone tile and travertine tile are all the current rage when it comes to decorating a home, so join the group now! If you are stuck with boring square tiles or common wood flooring then you can know exactly why you should decorate your home now.

You may not always think about it, but the decorations on your walls and the floors that you walk on in your home are all involved in the decorations that you have in your home. Color schemes are always very important when you try to match flooring to it, but even more important is the actual flooring. There are several different ways to pick your style of flooring and you can do it all based on a few different factors. First you are going to want to choose based on texture, price, and general look compared to your home.

Many people have a hard time deciding whether they want tile, carpet, or hardwood, in their home. If you are decorating a kitchen or bathroom, then you can automatically eliminate carpeting. Tile comes in a variety of different colors and shapes but it is ultimately harder to clean. Hardwood comes in a smaller selection of colors, but it is generally easier to clean and looks nice because it is polished. It all depends on what you are looking for in color tones as well. Hardwood looks great with green colors and tile looks good with some softer colors.

Another important aspect, when you are deciding what type of flooring to purchase, is your budget. You never want to go over your budget unless the item you are finding is really worth it. For flooring you are usually paying by the square foot so you can sometimes do the math ahead of time. Hardwood is a lot more expensive than fake hardwood, so if you are just looking for the general look of hardwood, then you should probably look at that option. When it comes to tile there are many different options. Some are more expensive than others and there are even tile sheets that cover a large area with one sheet. If you are not into cleaning the cracks of tile then you may want to look into this.

The floor that you walk on in your home is important to you; there is no doubt about that, so why not spend as much time as you can to find the perfect floor for you and your family? Whether it is carpet, hardwood, or tile, you are guaranteed to find the perfect fit!
